Im Grundsatz lassen sich nahezu alle Themen der modernen Psychologie Familie und Beziehung, Jugend und Alter, Identität, Beruf, Krankheit und vieles mehr durch die Analyse von entsprechenden Tagebüchern bearbeiten und untersuchen.
Darüber hinaus stellen Tagebücher jedoch auch eine bestimmte literarische (oder quasi-literarische) Form dar, mit einer historischen Entwicklung, die sie zu dem gemacht hat, was sie heute sind aber auch mit charakteristischem Einfluss auf dasjenige, was in dieser Form zum Ausdruck gebracht werden kann und wird. Diesem Einfluss (der Tagebuchform) genauer nachzugehen und dabei festzustellen, wie umgekehrt die Intentionen der Tagebuchschreibenden auch zu Variationen der Form führen, macht die Analyse von Tagebüchern zu einem höchst spannenden und lehrreichen Unterfangen zwischen den Disziplinen. Die vorliegende Arbeit nimmt solche Fragen auf und führt sie einer Klärung näher, auch (und nicht zuletzt) durch die exemplarische Analyse der Tagebücher zweier knapp zwanzigjähriger Mädchen.
